If your child is struggling to read, he’s likely had a battery of tests performed by the school. As his parent, you’ve likely viewed more charts, numbers, scores, and other data than you can remember. All of this confusing data has told you that your child is behind in reading and spelling. What is hasn’t told you is why and how to fix it.

Approved by the Colorado Department of Education, the Barton Reading & Spelling system was released in 1999 and is the most highly effective system for teaching dyslexic students to read. Barton Reading and Spelling has been the subject of multiple studies and found to be one of the leading programs for helping dyslexics learn to read. Further, it Barton Reading & Spelling System fulfills all of the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) definition, components, and research requirements and teaches common core standards!

The Barton Reading & Spelling Screening Process

Call Us

It starts with a phone call. We’ll discuss your child’s progress, concerns, and developmental history. This takes 30 minutes to an hour and it's FREE. 970-403-7540

Discovery

After our call, you’ll be asked to submit test scores, reading intervention notes, reports cards, and writing samples for review.

Screening

The screening will assess the student’s ability to hear all of the words in a spoken sentence, hear syllables in spoken words, and evaluate auditory discrimination, memory, and sequencing. These skills are critical to using an Orton-Gillingham approach.

Conclusion

After the screening, we’ll sit down and discuss the findings and the next steps. We’ll discuss the test scores, review handwriting samples for dysgraphia, and explain the results of the Barton screening.
